Ines Vansteenkiste-Muylle (she/her, born in 1997)has been working on a series where she follows Eddy (they/them, born in 1998) and Nixie (they/them, she/her, born in 1996). They have been parents of Bobby (2021) for more than a year now.

Eddy and Nixie both grew up in Belgium and still live there. They met at a party and became close while studying performance art together. Both enjoy cooking and dressing up for performances, though in recent years they’ve focused on domestic life and shaping their family.

Ines discovered Eddy’s work on Instagram and invited them for an editorial on self-love. When Eddy was pregnant, they collaborated with stylist Eveline Briand, and now, with Bobby turning one, Ines returns to photograph their family.

Eddy is an all-round maker working with mixed media, currently drawing and developing an art installation about the process of becoming a mother. “As a parent, I’m learning to see the world through Bobby’s eyes, trust my intuition, and provide a safe space for her to grow.”

Nixie’s interests include the body, parallel universes, quantum mechanics, crafts, and textile work. They’re currently exploring woodworking. Since Bobby’s birth, their art practice has taken a back seat, focused on parenting. Bobby is curious, expressive, persevering, joyful, and a little astrologically complex: Scorpio Sun, Gemini Moon, Scorpio Rising.
